Industrial research and standard institute of Iran legally is just formal state reference that is responsible to determine, edit and publish the national standards.
 
Each product has a standard code including specifications and test methods. Plastic containers also comprise the standards. The mentioned standard code is 5569.
 
The standard of plastic containers preservation liquids, specifications and test methods which is conformed from respective specialized commission in provision and edition, and 106th national chemical standard committee dated in October, 30, 1999, cited to first clause of rules and regulations refinement code of industrial research and standard institute of Iran approved in February, 1993, now is issued as the formal standard of Iran.
 
Plastic containers made of High Density Poly-Ethylene (HDPE) are produced with one of two following methods:
 
1. Blow Molding Method
 
In this method, polymeric solid materials are first melted and then suitable amount will be spilled into the mold and with blowing air, will be casted in the suitable form. Cooling mold by oil or water flow, the formed piece will be extracted from the mold and the redundancies will be separated from the piece.
 
2. Injection Molding Method
 
In this method, polymeric solid materials are first melted and will be injected in the mold under pressure. Cooling down the mold with water or oil flow, the piece be formed. Then, the piece will be extracted from the mold and the redundancies will be separated.
 
Specifications :
 
1. The container should be made of rectangular or square cross section.
 
2. Not only the container shouldn't be white-colored, but also it is better to be colored such that it doesn’t misused with water container.
3. Container capacity should at least 5% higher than graduated capacity.
 
4. The container should apparently lack any distortion, warping, redundancy and blot.
 
5. Pigments should distribute uniformly in the casting.
 
6. If recycled(ground) materials are used to produce these containers, the container should satisfy 80% tensile strength of the container made of new materials, wit hot considering thickness.
 
7. According to the stability test clause, the container should reserve its stability.
 
8. The containers holding higher than 1 liter capacity should have a handle and in accordance with the durability test clause, the handle should not separate from the piece and should not be observed any leakage.
 
9. The container should have suitable durability and when it will be encountered the stroke caused by falling, in accordance with the strenght test clause, it should not be observed any breaking, crack or leakage.
 
10. The extruded poly-ethylene used to make these containers, should preserve 70% strength of the initial tensile strength.
 
11. Opening of the container should have a cap and it should not have any leakage or damage.
 
12. Opening of the container design should be such that during discharge, not any liquid scatter surround. Internal diameter of the orifice should be at least 32 mm and entering air within the container during discharge should be done appropriately.
 
Test methods :
 
 - Stability test
 
Mentioned container will be fulled with 25 Celsius degrees water as amount as graduated capacity and its cap will be tight closed. A roap with 9.5 mm diameter and 2 m length will be connected to a point in the ceiling and the other end will be tied to container handle such that force will be distributed uniformly in the handle. Then hang the container in this manner for a minute from the rope. Afterwards, release freely the container from the 305 mm height. After doing test, the handle should not be separated from the container or observed leaking the liquid.
 
 - Container strength against falling stroke test
 
First, mentioned container will be fulled with 25 Celsius degrees water as amount as graduated capacity and its cap will be tight closed. Then throw the container freely on a solid surface. Throw the container from 2.4 m height on the container base first, then on the corner of the base and finally on a side. After doing so, there should not be an effect of crack or leakage on the container.
 
Repeat this test again at 18 Celsius degrees temperature while you have fulled the container volume with a mixture of 50% water and 50% glycol with the difference that throwing height in this time will be 1.2 m. In this case, there should also be observed any crack or leakage.
